Herbert Knape Memorial Donations
Herb Knape was a businessman, husband, and father. After working with the family business, he founded Knape Industries, Inc. and was President for 35 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, sailing, yachting and downhill skiing, much of his interests he passed on to his children, including his philanthropic legacy. Helping others is important to the Knapes. "We didn't get where we are without help, and we need to give others our help," said Herb when we spoke with him in 2007. In order to help others, Herb along with his wife Glenna established a donor advised fund with Grand Rapids Community Foundation. Through their donor advised fund, the Knapes hope to pass on their love of giving. When the fund passes to the next generation, all seven of their children will be able to work together to recommend grants to their, and their parents', favorite causes. The Grand Rapids Community Foundation valued our relationship with Herb and we are truly saddened by his passing. We are honored to accept donations in his memory designated to the Herbert and Glenna Knape Family Fund at Grand Rapids Community Foundation.
