Jarvis Spreng

Born in Kuling, Kiangsi, China in 1926, Jarvis Spreng grew up in Illinois before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. After his service, Jarvis graduated from North Central College and soon met his wife of 68 years, Mary Lutz. Jarvis and Mary lived in Naperville, Illinois, for 54 years, where they raised their four children. The Sprengs moved to Grand Rapids in 2000 after moving into Cook Valley Estates, where Jarvis served on its resident council. For over twenty years, Mary and Jarvis were active supporters of Grand Rapids Community Foundation and cherished friends at community tours, donor receptions, and holiday events at Cook Valley.
